You have learned 3 types of condtionals. Zero conditional: general truth. First conditional: to describe what is possible/likely in the present or future. Second conditional;talk about sth that is very unlikely to happen in the fure. Third cond: to describe sth in the past that could have happend but it didn’t, or that should haven’t happend but did. These types of conditionals are fantastic and they talk about events in their own time frame: Present, future, and past.

Mixed conditionals 

Een mixed conditional is een combinatie van een second en een third conditional. 
Er zijn twee types: 

- Voorwaarde in de third conditional, resultaat in de second conditional: als er in het verleden iets anders was gebeurd, zou de situatie nu anders zijn. 
If I hadn't fought for our relationship (in the past), we wouldn't still be  together (now) 

Voorwaarde in de second conditional, resultaat in de third conditional: als de algemene situatie anders was, zou er in het verleden iets anders zijn gebeurd. 
If I didn't love you (still true), I wouldn't have married you. 

He says he's your friend, but he didn't help you. If ..........

1. he were your friend, he would have helped you
2. If he had been your friend, he would have helped you
3. If he were your friend, he would help you
4. If he had been your friend, he would help you

I feel fine because I took the medicine. If ....

1. I hadn't taken the medicine, I would have felt awful
2. If I took the medicine, I would feel fine.
3. I hadn't taken the medicine, I would feel awful.
4. I didn't take the medicine, I would have felt awful

I'm not patient, and I didn't wait for them. If .....

1. I were more patient, I would wait for them
2. I were more patient, I would have waited for them
3. I had been more patient, I would have waited for them
4. I had been more patient, I would wait for them.

I am where I am because you helped me. I....

1. wouldn't have been where I am today if you hadn't helped me.
2. wouldn't be where I am today if you didn't help me.
3. wouldn't have been where I am today if you didn't help me.
4. wouldn't be were I am today if you hadn't helped me.

I'm tired because I went to bed late. If.....

1. I had gone to bed earlier, I wouldn't be so tired.
