Lesson Inspiration

This lesson can be used to compliment your school's PSHE scheme of work or as a stand alone session to support World Kindness Day.

Students will be encouraged to reflect upon their actions and are challenged to complete a 'random act of kindness' during their day.


  • Consider what kindness means to us

  • Think about what others say about kindness

  • Challenge ourselves to share 'random acts of kindness' with others in our school.

In this session, you will:

Aims and objectives

What does kindness mean to you?

Captures baseline vocabulary and initial student perceptions surrounding empathetic behaviour to frame the wider discussion on World Kindness Day.


Stretch: Challenge students to select one abstract term from the board and explain how it translates into a tangible action within the school environment.


Device-Free: Direct pairs to write their top three defining words for kindness on mini-whiteboards and hold them up simultaneously to spot recurring themes.

Reflection

This session may have brought out some sensitive issues. You may wish to use this part of your lesson to remind students of the processes within your school to support those who may have been victims of bullying or discrimination.
