What is something we could consider a random act of kindness?

Random acts of kindness are small things we can all do to positively affect someone else's day. They can range from a compliment to offering your time to help someone with a difficult job, while asking nothing back in return...

...But just as important as that, science has proven that performing acts of kindness actually improves our own mood and can make us feel calmer, happier and more valued as a person. It's a win-win!

Sometimes having the opportunity to do one of these random acts for others doesn't present itself... What then? How will I try and make the most of this free serotonin boost?

Well, let's have a look!

Kindness Routines?

Finding creative ways to give yourself a 'kindness' focus can really help you spot the opportunities in your everyday life.

Here is an example Kindness Calendar with simple 5 minute tasks to inspire positivity in the people around you, and yourself.

Using the kindness calendar to inspire you - come up with your own daily 'tasks' (Mon-Fri) that you could complete at school.

Spin the spinner above to select who will share one of their own kindness tasks for the week with the class...

- then spin it again to pick someone new!

Sometimes being kind can be as simple as being there for a friend when they are in need, or noticing that someone in your class seems quieter than usual, and asking if they are OK.

Not all acts of kindness have to be large gestures...

Have you ever hoped someone would ask you if 'you need help?'

when you were too scared, sad or embarrassed to ask?

Next time you see someone at school that looks like they might be having a tough time, why not sit near them and ask them if they're OK?

Sometimes people just need to feel seen for their mood to lift.

One day, you might be the one who needs a random act of kindness, and people that put positivity out more, tend to also attract it more...

If you have time, why not watch a feel good video (the next slide) to see the impact kindness can have on the people around you..
