What you need to cover

• A restyle- this needs to be a change of length and style
• Weaved foils- Minimum of a t section
• Any other colour service- This can be a toner after the highlights 
• A curly blowdry with a dry set
• Hair up- Minimum 80% of the hair to be up

Restyle and blowdry with a round brush

Client 2:

T section highlights

Toner (only if you use a lightener in your foils!!)

Curly blowdry inc dry set (pin curls)

What else do you think you need to do during your EPA?

You need to show

• A clear plan for the day - Including timings
• Good reliable models
• You have carried out all tests
• You are following dress code
• You are following Health and Safety 

Consultation

You must complete a full consultation with both your clients which should include:

• Questioning and observation
• Hair test and results
• Hair classification and characteristics 
• Hair growth patterns 
• Client lifestyle

When would you carry out an elasticity test?

1. Before the service
2. During the service
3. After the service

Explain how you would carry out an elasticity and porosity test and why.

Why would you carry out an incompatibility test

1. To see if the hair is suitable to be cut
2. To check for metallic salts on the hair
3. To see if the hair is damaged

Shampoo and condition

You must show you have:

• Adapted your shampooing techniques
• Used shampooing and conditioning massage techniques

Effleurage

Rotary

Friction

Petrissage

You should be able to describe all of these techniques

Cutting

You must use a MINIMUM of 3 techniques:

• Clubcutting
• Freehand
• Scissor over comb
• Texturising
• Precision cutting
• Fringe cutting
• Clipper work

You must also give advice and recommendations

Styling

You must use a MINIMUM of 4 techniques:

• Blowdrying with a round brush
  
• Blowdrying with a paddle brush
  
• Setting
  
• Finger drying
  
• Plaiting / braiding / knotting / twisting
  
• Dressing hair
  
• Added hair

Styling:

Use a minimum of 2 products:

• Heat protector
• Sprays
• Mousse
• Creams
• Gels
• Serums
• Setting lotions
• Wax

Use a minimum of 1 setting technique:

• Rollering
• Wrap setting
• Pin curling to give volume
• Pin curling to give flat movement

Take into account ALL the factors:

• Hair classifications / Characteristics
• Test results
• Clients hair length
• Added hair
• Finished look
• Head and face shape
• The occasion for which the style is required

Use a minimum of 3 dressing techniques:

• Curls 
• Rolls
• Smoothing
• Backcombing
• Back brushing 
• Twists
• Plaits
• Braids

Styled above AND below shoulders

Give advice and recommendations

Colouring

Use a minimum of 2 products:

• Semi-permanent
• Quasi-permanent
• Permanent
• Lighteners
• Toners

Carried out ALL the tests:

• Skin test
• Incompatibility
• Porosity
• Elasticity
• Colour development

Taken into account all the factors:

• Hair classifications
• Hair characteristics
• Temperature
• Existing hair colour
• Percentage of white hair
• Tests results
• Strength of peroxide
• Hair length
• Skin tone
• Time intervals for last perm or colour
• Recent removal of hair extensions

Give advice and recommendations.

Grading

You will be graded on all the elements individually to give you an over all grade of either a Fail, Pass or Distinction!

If you do not follow health and safety, you will fail!

What Health and safety must you follow? Can you list some H&S acts?

Health and Safety

• PPE - Gloves/ apron / client protection
• COSHH - If you are bringing your own colour, you need to bring the COSHH data sheets
• PAC Testing - If you are bringing your own electrical tools, you must have them PAC tested with us
• SWEEPING BEFORE YOU BLOWDRY
• WASHING COLOUR BOWLS
   

EPA plan

You need to produce an EPA plan which includes the timing of the day and what criteria you will be covering. 

You tutor will send you an example that you will need to follow to create your EPA plan.

Be prepared!

• Just remember - EPA is your last assessment!
• They are not looking to fail you! 
• You will need to show you have the knowledge to go along with the skill in order to pass and achieve a higher grade!
• Keep calm and don't worry if things don't go as planned!
