I am at home.
She said that she was at home.

  • directe rede (direct speech)
        She said: "I am at home."

  • indirecte rede (indirect speech)
        She said that she was at home.

TENSES

The present simple tense turns into a past simple tense. 

Direct speech: They said: "It is cold in here."
Indirect speech: They said that it was cold in there."

The present continuous tense turns into a past continuous tense. 

Direct speech: They said: "We are eating lunch now."
Indirect speech: They said that they were eating lunch then.

The past simple tense turns into a past perfect tense. 

Direct speech: He said: "I was in Glasgow last year."
Indirect speech: He said that he had been in Glasgow last year.

Direct speech: Erin said: "I have lived here for two years."
Indirect speech: Erin said that she had lived there for two years.

Direct speech: Tom said: "I will help you tomorrow."
Indirect speech: Tom said that he would help me the next day."
