Future
You can talk about future events in 4 different ways:
1. will + basic verb
2. to be + going to + basic verb
3. present continuous
4. present simple

1. will + basic verb
- offers
- promises
- announcements
- decisions
- prediction without any proof (zelfs weersvoorspellingen!)

I will help you later today.

1. will + hele ww
an offer: We will help you with the dishes.
a promise: I promise I will call Patrick tomorrow.
an announcement: The concert won't start in a few minutes.
a decision: I won't go to football practice today.
a prediction without any proof: I will buy a sportscar when I have a job.

2. to be + going to + basic verb
am/are/is + going to + basic verb
you use the personal form of 'to be' 
Use:
- plans and intentions
- prediction with proof, you can see it coming

Look at those dark clouds! It is going to rain.

3. present continuous

am/are/is + basic verb


Use:

personal arrangements, that are set


We are flying to Italy on Monday.

4. Present simple

basic verb, except he/she/it.
He/She/It > basic verb + (e)s


Use:
timetables, arrival/departure times, opening/closing times, etc.

Examples of the timetables:


The train arrives tomorrow at 5.15 pm.

The plane leaves tomorrow at 6 am.
The baker's opens tomorrow at 8 am.
The school closes tomorrow at 5 pm.

Which rule is best?

1. Decide what kind of future event it is.
2. Choose the correct future form.
3. Fill in the forms.


Hint: Before you decide it is advisable to run through all 4 possibilities because in some cases you can use more than one answer.
