  • Usually written for a blog or magazine 
  • Catchy title
  • Introduction -> descriptive paragraph -> opinion -> conclusion with summary and catchy ending.     
  • No headings 
  • Informal writing tolerated
FCE REPORT
  • Usually written for a superior. 
  • Objective title! 
  •  Introduction (why this report and how is information collected) -> informative body, structured by headings and bullet points -> conclusion with summary and (explained) recommendation
  • Headings included
  • Formal writing: no contractions!

You have seen this announcement in an international English language magazine: Do you have a favorite hobby? If so, tell us what it is and why you enjoy it so much. We will publish the most interesting articles in next month's edition of our magazine.  Write the article in 170-220 words. 

You have recently attended an English language course at your local school or college. At the end of the course you were given the following letter:
We hope you have enjoyed studying with us. In order to plan future courses we would be grateful if you could write a short report giving us your views about the course. If you have any suggestions we would also like to hear them. Kind regards, Mrs. Johnson (The Principal) Write the report in 170-220 words.
