Klinker: a, e, o, u, i

Medeklinker: k, h, g, s etc. 

a = als er een medeklinker-klank na komt. (a phone, a movie, a horse)

an = als er een klinker-klank na komt. (an apple, an egg, an elephant)

Voorbeelden woorden met medeklinker-klank die beginnen met een klinker:

University, uniform, euro, euphoria, one --> voor deze gebruik je "a"
