• the presenter welcomes the audience, introduces themselves if necessary and asks if everyone is able to hear them;
• s/he introduces the topic and explains the purpose of the presentation;
• s/he outlines the organisation of the presentation and gives the audience instructions about asking questions (during the presentation or at the end);
• s/he tries to entertain the audience and grab their attention by referring to the news or showing a picture, for example.
