Christmas in Australia
In Australia they celebrate Christmas in summer, that's why they decorate their houses with flowers and greenery. The carols that they sing on Christmas Eve are often changed because the songs are about the cold and snow and they don't have that over there, there are also special  Australian Christmas carols. Because it's so warm over there, the warm, red clothes that Santa usually wears, are changed for shorts and a T-shirt,there isn't any snow so the sleigh has wheals so it can still ride. Sometimes, Santa gives the reideers a vacation and takes a kangaroo to bring presents.
People often moved from England or America to Australia so there are a lot of mixed traditions, for example, some people call Santa: Santa Claus and others call him Father Christmas.

Christmas decorations
Australian people are very extra people, which you can notice by their excessive amount of Christmas decoration outside and inside their houses, on the street and in stores. Everywhere, really. People also decorate their houses and gardens with Christmas trees and Christmas lights. Neighbours sometimes have little competitions to see who has got the best light display. The neighbours often visit each other to look at the light displays at night. Sometimes the displays are put out as early as December 1st. One street in Sydney raises over $(AUS)35,000 every year for charity with their co-ordinated street display.
