• List the different types of fire extinguishers used in hair and beauty salons.

Accident/ Emergency situations

Below is a list of 4 accidents and emergency situations. In your groups, discuss how you think each one would be dealt with.

• Slips, trips and falls
• Client or colleague being taken ill
• A fire in the salon
• A flood caused by a leaking basin

Level of responsibility

During an emergency, a salon may allocate specific job roles to members of staff who will be competent in carrying out these tasks. 

They will usually be more senior members of staff.

All accidents including slips, trips and falls must be reported to the salon manager
