My Supermarket Journey:
Let's Write!

What's Our Mission Today?

  • We are going to write an article about our trip to the supermarket.

  • We need to tell a story about our journey.

  • We will learn how to include important details and make our writing interesting!

Your Journey Starts Here!

  • Where did you travel from? (Your town or village name)

  • How long did your journey take? (e.g., 10 minutes, half an hour)

  • What did you see on your journey? (People, buildings, nature, traffic)

  • What did you like about your journey? (e.g., the weather, something you saw)

  • What didn't you like about your journey? (e.g., it was too long, it was too busy)

Let's Think About Our Journey (Part 1)

  • My Town: I travelled from [Your Town Name].

  • Journey Time: My journey took [Number] minutes/hours.

  • What I Saw: I saw [Describe something you saw, e.g., a busy street, a pretty park].

Let's Think About Our Journey (Part 2)

  • What I Liked: I really liked [Describe something you liked, e.g., the sunny weather, a friendly dog].

  • What I Didn't Like: I didn't like [Describe something you didn't like, e.g., the noisy traffic, a long wait].

Connecting Our Ideas: Compound Sentences!

  • A compound sentence joins two simple sentences with a word like 'and', 'but', or 'so’.

  • Example: I travelled from Manchester, and my journey took twenty minutes.

  • Example: The street was very busy, but I arrived on time.

  • Try to write at least three compound sentences.

Building Our Sentences: The Power of Adjectives!

  • Adjectives are describing words! They make our writing more colourful.

  • Examples: sunny, busy, pretty, noisy, friendly, long.

  • Try to use at least four adjectives in your article.

Putting It All Together: Your Article!

  • Start with your town and journey time.

  • Describe what you saw.

  • Tell us what you liked and didn't like.

  • Remember to use your adjectives and compound sentences!

  • Aim for at least 60 words.

Example Article

  • I’m writing about my journey from home to a supermarket. I always go to ASDA in Hounslow. I travelled from a small town called Feltham. I travelled in a bus, and my journey took thirty minutes. I saw tall buildings and I also saw busy roads on my way. I really liked the sunny weather, but I didn't like how busy my bus was. It was a long journey, so I was happy to finally arrive at the supermarket.

Your Turn to Shine!

  • Now, write your own article about your supermarket journey.

  • Use the ideas and tips from today's lesson.

  • Ask your teacher for help if you need it!

Happy writing!
