The future!

Goal: you will be able to use 3 tenses

-present simple

-present continuous

-to be going to + hele ww

-will/shall

Present simple

For the scheduled or arranged 'events', such as:

school (timetable)-

taking a bus-

Examples

The Lesson starts at 9 o'clock.

The bus leaves at 6.30.

Ajax-Excelcior begins at 9 pm.

Hoe vertel je dat de film in de bioscoop om 19 uur begint?

1. The film is going to start at 7 pm.
2. The film starts at 7 pm.

Will

Promises (beloftes)-

Offers (aanbod)-

Spontaneous (spontane beslissing)-

voorspelling gebaseerd op mening-

als de voorspelling onzeker is ('I think')-

Examples

Promise: I shall study mom!

Offer: I'll open the window Miss!

Spontaneous: I will get icecream guys!

Promise: Wat is hier een juiste zin?

1. She will buy you a sandwich at Ben's.
2. She is going to buy you a sandwich at Ben's.

Present continuous - am/is are + ww-ing

Arranged plans-

Future plans-

Gaat vrijwel zeker door.

Er is een tijdstip afgesproken, 

dingen geregeld! 

Examples

I am watching the match with my husband.

We are doing homework together, we just picked a date.

Wat is hier dan een juiste zin? (Afspraak in de toekomst.)

1. I am meeting my friend at 5 pm.
2. I will meet my friend at 5 pm.

Examples

We are going to go to the cinema tonight.

Look! Those clouds are humongous. It is going to rain.

Welke zin is juist?
