Adjectives 
An adjective describes something or somebody.. It defines the noun. (You can find the noun by putting an article (a, an, the) before the word.
Adam is a good singer.
Frank has got a red car.

Adjectives are used after a copula or verbs of the senses

After copulas like to be, to seem and verbs of the senses like to feel, to look, to smell, to sound, to  taste we use an adjective.

1. My teachers are nice. 
2. That car looks beautiful. 
3. Haggis smells awful

Adverbs 
Adverbs can describe other words. It answers the question How something is done.
Adverbs can describe:
VERBS
1. Frank sings beautifully 
2. My brother drives carefully

An adverb can describe: 
AN ADJECTIVE

1. Frank is an extremely good singer.
2. My brother is an awfully careful driver.
3. It's an absolutely perfect video clip.

ANOTHER ADVERB

1. Frank sings absolutely beautifully.
2. My brother drives really well.
3. That clip was filmed extremely perfectly.

An adverb can describe:
A SENTENCE
Honestly, I don't understand what you are saying.

Quickly finish the grocery shopping so we can get to the party in time.

How are adverbs made
Most adverbs are made by putting -ly after the adjective     
Beautiful - beautifully

Sometimes the spelling is changed. 
Terrible - terribly
Easy - easily

Exceptions adverbs
There are also irregular forms. For instance: the adverb of good is well. 
He is a good performer. He performs well. 

Some adverbs have the same form as the adjectives such as::. 
Fast (fastly doesn't exist), fair. low ,high, hard, long ,late , straight
- He's a fast driver, He drives fast

Exceptions adverbs
Of course the adverb hardly does exist but the meaning is different:
He works hard. - This means that he does a lot of work
He works hardly-This means that he doesn't do a lot of work
