Review writing assignment
In the week of the 2nd of June, we use the long lesson (the way things are now, this will be on Thursday the 5th of June) to write a review about a film we're going to watch in class.

How does this work?
While watching the film, you write down the things that you think need to be in your review. At the end of the final film lesson, you hand in your notes to me. I will keep them, and give them back to you when the time has come to write the actual review. Your notes should be just that: notes, in short sentences. I will help you out with what should be in the review

We will watch the film in installments, next week and the week after that.

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

What should be in a review?
- Information about the film itself: who are the main characters, what is the setting, what is the story about. Avoid spoilers!!
- Things you like about the film
- Things you don't like about the film
- A recommendation: should others watch this film, or should they avoid it and go and watch paint dry instead?

Homework
First, let's do a quick round of "how well do you know the words". I will give you a description of the word. Raise your hand if you know what I'm talking about.

After that, let's take a look at the homework: exercise 8 and 9 on page 109, and 12, 13, 15, 16, 17 from the Theme Words.

Comparatives and superlatives
  • Comparatives en superlatives zijn de trappen van vergelijking.
  • De comparative is de vergrotende trap, waarbij je twee dingen met elkaar vergelijkt. My sister is older than my brother.
  • De superlative is de overtreffende trap, waarbij je drie of meer dingen met elkaar vergelijkt: my iPhone is the most expensive thing I own.

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

Comparatives & superlatives
Voor woorden van één lettergreep en  woorden van twee lettergrepen die eindigen op medeklinker + y gebruiken we -er en the ...... -est

Norway is cold, Russia is colder, Antarctica is the coldest.
My cat is lazy, yours is lazier, my friend's cat is the laziest.

Voor woorden van twee of meer lettergrepen (behalve die hierboven op y) gebruiken we more & the ...... most.
