3 tips: 

1 Plus / min

Denk bij een tag question aan een batterij; die heeft een pluskant en een minkant. Daarom: als de hoofdzin bevestigend (+) is, dan is de tag question ontkennend (–):

(+) You are Dutch, (-) aren't you? / (-) You aren't Dutch, (+) are you?

2 Persoonlijk voornaamwoord

Je gebruikt in de tag question hetzelfde persoonlijk voornaamwoord (I, you, he, enz.) als in de zin, of het voornaamwoord dat hoort bij de naam of het woord in de zin.

3 Hulpwerkwoord

Als er een hulpwerkwoord in de hoofdzin staat, herhaal je dat in de tag question.

(+) The bus was late, (-) wasn't it? 

Staat er in de hoofdzin geen hulpwerkwoord, gebruik dan in de tag question do, does of did, net zoals in gewone vragen.

(+) The plane arrived on time, (-) didn't it?

Let op: I am a good driver, aren't I?
