Warm-up exercise
Exercise:
Think  about stereotypical young men around the ages age group: 16-30 years old of the following countries:
  • Netherlands
  • America
  • UK (British)


Tip: Fill in the stereotype. Use keywords plus verbs (werkwoord) , conjunctions (voegwoorden) and prepositions (voorzetsels). Also, start the sentence with "I heard that..."

e.g.: I've heard that the British enjoy tea in the afternoon after a long day.

Do you think the portrayal of teenagers as being lazy, violent, reluctant and rowdy in the media influences preteens perception of how they should behave? 

Write a statement on your thoughts about these stereotypes. 
You can write about the type of stereotype you have encountered relevant to of media influence: 

  • Name at least 1 prejudice you encountered, for example about the media you follow.
