Slide 1 - Tekstslide

What are we going to learn today?
Today we will be learning:
What the nervous system looks like.
What the function of the nerve system is.
What a reflex arc is.

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Senses
The things we can observe around us are called stimuli. There are different kinds of stimuli, and every sensory organ/receptor reacts to a different stimulus. Sensory organs are built to convert a stimulus to an impulse; electrical current through your nervous system. An impuls goes to the brains, where it gets processed so you can observe everything that is around you.

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Nervous system
The nervous system, just like your endocrine system makes sure communication within your body takes place.
It has 2 parts: the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.

Receptor --> effector

Neurons
While the cell body are always in or around the CNS, the shoots of neurons can get very long.

Reflexes
Sometimes your body needs to react very fast, or it does something autonomously. It does so through reflexes.
During reflexes, the brain doesn't make a new impuls. But the impuls gets to the spinal cord, and them immediately goes to the effector. This is a reflex arc.
