Lesson Goal

• You learn about each other's internship (stage) in a speaking exercise (25 mins)
• You write down your own experiences in a writing exercise (25 mins)

Your internship: speaking exercise

We hope you had a great time during your internship. We are happy to see you again! Hopefully you are a little happy to see us again, too.

Naturally, it's interesting and fun to hear about each other's experiences. Practising with speaking English is a good bonus too. That's why we are going to do a internship speaking exercise.

Duration: 20 minutes

How: first in pairs, then in groups

Result: you have practised your English speaking and learned about each other's internships

Your internship: speaking exercise (step 1)

Step 1: write down or type your experiences about your internship. Tip: you can make a word wall (woordweb) or you can just write down a couple of key words. You can do this in English or Dutch.

• Where did you do your internship? (place, how many colleagues, days, times, what kind of company, etc.)
• What were your internship goals? (for example: I wanted to learn more about how to clean stables properly)
• What new skills did you learn or what qualities did you discover about yourself? (for example, I learned that I still need to work on asking quesions or I learned that I do well in a team)
• Describe a really fun moment or day you had, or one that you would like to forget.

Your internship: speaking exercise (step 2)

Step 2: discuss these answers with a classmate. First, tell each other about your internship. Then, ask each other questions you're interested in. The student whose birthday is first, begins. Then swap roles.

• Where did you do your internship? (place, how many colleagues, days, times, what kind of company, etc.)
• What were your internship goals? (for example: I wanted to learn more about how to clean stables properly)
• What new skills did you learn or what qualities did you discover about yourself? (for example, I learned that I still need to work on asking quesions or I learned that I do well in a team)
• Describe a really fun moment or day you had, or one that you would like to forget.

Your internship: speaking exercise (step 3)

Step 3: form a group with 3 to 4 students. You have to form a group with students you didn't cooperate with in step 1 & 2. So 2 or 3 new students!

• Where did you do your internship? (place, how many colleagues, days, times, what kind of company, etc.)
• What were your internship goals? (for example: I wanted to learn more about how to clean stables properly)
• What new skills did you learn or what qualities did you discover about yourself? (for example, I learned that I still need to work on asking quesions or I learned that I do well in a team)
• Describe a really fun moment or day you had, or one that you would like to forget.

Writing

You are going to write an e-mail to your teacher about your internship. You can use all the information from the speaking exercise, or add something else if you like.

You will get a grade for this in Osiris.

Hand it in ItsLearning > Planner > Writing A2

Je begint altijd met het invullen van het e-mailadres van de ontvanger.

Dan vul je het onderwerp in. Laat dit niet leeg!

Begin met een groet, daarna de reden waarom je schrijft, dan eventueel vragen/verzoeken, dan een bedankje, en dan de afsluiting met naam.

Opdracht:

Schrijf een e-mail naar je docent over je stage, bestaand uit de volgende onderdelen:

• Begroet de docent en vraag hoe het gaat
  
• Vertel hoe het met jezelf gaat
  
• Vertel dat je op stage bent geweest en vertel iets over het bedrijf. Je mag deze informatie zelf verzinnen.
  
• Vertel wat je doelen waren en of je deze bereikt hebt
  
• Vertel over een nieuwe vaardigheid die je geleerd hebt of een vaardigheid waarmee je meer geoefend hebt
  
• Beschrijf je leukste moment, dag, of juist een dag die je liever snel wilt vergeten
  
• Sluit de e-mail op een correcte manier af
