LO:  I can identify the achievements of David Attenborough.

David Attenborough was born in 1926.

How old is he now?

David Attenborough is famous as a broadcaster and natural historian.

This means that he studies nature and the creatures that live in it.  

In the next clip David Attenborough explains how caterpillars change into butterflies.

Notice how carefully he has studied what happens.

He has created many documentaries about the natural world, looking at plants, animals and the oceans.

He has worked with the BBC on many series, such as Life, Blue Planet and Planet Earth.

After studying the different creatures of the world, David Attenborough has decided that the most important thing on Earth is not the land but the oceans.

After studying and filming the oceans, David Attenborough became very worried about the effect we humans are having on the water.

We are polluting it with plastic and as we heat the world up through climate change the sea levels are rising.  This threatens to submerge some islands and coastal regions.

David Attenborough has had an amazing effect on many people.  

He has made them aware of the damage we are doing by using and throwing away so much plastic.
