Verb forms (werkwoordsvormen)

  • Changes with time (past, present, future)

  • Changes with a noun (zelfstandig naamwoord), cat, book, Ben, or a pronoun (voornaamwoord) I, she, he, it, we, they

  • Regular and irregular verbs (buy, bought, bought or walk, walked)

Verb forms
Present simple        Facts and habits         I/you/we/they + hele werkwoord
She/he/it + hele werkwoord +(e)s         He drinks tea at breakfast.

Present continuous        When something is happening now or is about to happen        I + am + werkwoord + ing   You/we/they + are + werkwoord + ing
She/he/it + is + werkwoord + ing         I am reading a book at the moment.

Future        To talk about something that still has to happen         Will + werkwoord        I will go to Africa someday.
For the future, you can also use to be going to (when there is proof), present simple (With schedules), or the present continuous (when something is planned).

Verb forms
Past simple          When something started and also ended in the past    Regelm. Ww.: werkwoord + ed (walk = walked), Onregelm. Ww.: Buy = Bought, Sing = Sang          She sang a song last year.

Past continuous         To say that something was going on, sometimes during something else         I/he/she/it + was + werkwoord + ing, You/we/they + were + werkwoord + ing         While we were having the picnic, it started to rain.

Verb forms
Present perfect         When something happened in the past but you don't know when          She/he/it + has + volt. Deelw. I/you/we/they + have + volt. Deelw. (Catch-Caught-Caught)         He has caught the ball.

Past perfect          To discuss multiple things from the past, the thing the furthest away is written in the past perfect          had + voltooid deelwoord + ed         As soon as we had finished our drinks, we went to school.

What: You are going to write a formal letter to a hotel with the use of two different verb forms. 
How: You will do this individually.
Help: You may use google translate, but make sure to not translate full sentences.
Time: 15 minutes
Result: A written review with different verb forms.
Done: turn in your review on teams and think of something that went well today and something you would like to work on.

  • Geef aan wie je bent, hoelang je daar gebleven bent en met wie.
  • Beschrijf wat je klacht is.
  • Geef aan hoe je deze klacht opgelost wil hebben.
  • Sluit je klachtenbrief af.
