  • One / Ones worden in het Engels gebruikt om zelfstandige naamwoorden die al eerder in een zin zijn genoemd te vervangen.
    My sister always takes the small pillow, so I take the big one
  • We weten al dat het om pillow gaat, dus het woord hoeft niet nog eens herhaald te worden.

  • one ==> enkelvoud
    ones ==> meervoud

Trappen van vergelijkingen
De stellende, de vergrotende (comparative) en de overtreffende (superlative) trap. 
  • comparative = 2 dingen vergelijken !
  • superlative = 3 of meer dingen vergelijken !

Vergelijken doen we met bijwoorden  of bijvoegelijke naamwoorden.
  1. It is the coldest day of the year. (Het is de koudste dag van het jaar).
  2. You will have to work harder than me. (Je zult harder moeten werken dan mij).
