WHAT? Conditionals are sentence structures that explain a particular situation or circumstance and its consequences.

If this happens, then that happens.

FORM? If the sentence starts with 

the ‘if clause’, you add a comma 

between the ‘if clause’ and the 

‘main clause’. 

Example: If you’re in danger telephone 112.   Answer If you’re in danger, telephone 112.  

1. Telephone 112 if you’re in danger.
2. If you freeze water it turns into ice.
3. Water turns into ice if you freeze it.
4. If it’s cold I’ll wear a jacket.
5. I'll wear a jacket if it's cold.
6. You get burned if you touch a fire.
7. If you touch a fire you get burned.
8. I would quit smoking if I were you.
9. If I were you I would quit smoking.

USE? When we talk about specific present or future situations which we believe are real or possible. 

FORM? If/When +  present simple, +  will + infinitive
