Present Simple

De present simple gebruik je om feiten, gewoonten, en dingen die we regelmatig doen te bespreken.

• Water boils at 100 degrees.
• I teach you every Tuesday.
• She always cycles to work, but when it rains she goes by car.

Hoe maak je een present simple?

I / you / we / they = de stam van het werkwoord: walk, cook, organise

he / she /it (SHIT-woorden) = stam + s: walks, cooks, organises

Uitzonderingen

Wanneer de stam van een woord eindigt op:<div>-o - komt er -es achter het woord bij he/she/it --&gt; I go - he goes</div><div>-s/ch - komt er -es achter het woord bij he/she/it --&gt; I watch - she watches</div><div>-y - dan veranderd de -y in -ies bij he/she/it --&gt; I fly - it flies</div><div><br></div><div>Maar.. eindigt het woord op een -y met een klinker ervoor (a, o, i, e, u) dan komt er alleen een -s achter.</div><div><br></div>

Hoe maak je een Present Continuous?

een vorm van 'to be' + stam + -ing

am + read + ing, is + walk + ing

Uitzonderingen?

- Woorden die eindigen op een -e: -e wordt vervangen door -ing

have - having, give - giving

- Woorden met 1 lettergreep eindigend op een medeklinker met een klinker ervoor verdubbeld de medeklinker:

swap - swapping, cut - cutting, stop - stopping, beg - begging
