Teacher reads the poem William the Conqueror Sends a Postcard Home by John Coldwell.

Teacher should point out informal style of writing to link the poem to exam writing assignments but also to point out a different perspective, who is the speaker and a different form of poetry; no rhyme scheme, one stanza, unequal lengths between stops and the use of comments in brackets.

Prefixes

Teacher quickly retrieves prior knowledge, could be of other languages, on affixes, prefixes and suffixes as something that is add on to a root word to form a new word or change the meaning of the root word. Teacher may need to retrieve grammar terminology such as; adjectives, nouns, verbs and adverbs.
