- methods of transportation (by)
She travelled by bus / by car / by boat / by train.

- describe the use of tools (with)
The birdhouse was built with a hammer.

- machines or other devices (with and on)

I wrote an essay on my laptop.

Machines/devices

with: als je er gebruik van maakt 
--> with a pen / with a smartphone 
on: als je er echt op gaat werken 
--> working on your laptop

Prepositions of connection

- for possession (of)

The end of the day.
- when 2 things or people are related or together (with)
I am friends with her sister.
- physically connected (to)
His game console is connected to the TV.

Prepositions of origin

- where something or someone comes from (from)

Lily is from Canada.
They came from a different school.
I have learned a lot from him.

Prep. of direction/movement

- to state how and in which direction someone or someone is moving. 
Examples: across, onto, along, out of, past, through, down, to, into, towards.
The cat came out of nowhere.
The storm was passing through the small town.
She walked past him.

Made of / made from

Made of: to talk about the material of something.
My shirt is made of cotton.
My bottle is made of plastic.

Made from: when the material is changed into a completely different state.
Paper is made from wood.
