Finish the story
Listen to a Merlin mystery story and do the assignment, p.23.
Listen and write down the answers to the 2 questions at the end of
the mystery story.

You can include the following information in your answers:
– What happens when the zombie knights appear?
– Which treasure would you use to scare them off?
– Why would you use this treasure?
– How would the zombies react to the treasure?

Slide 17 - Tekstslide

Example answer
Example:
The zombies appear and they are heading directly towards us. We decide to use the Cornish Mantle of Arthur. This mantle looks just like an ordinary mantle, but when you put it on, your entire body becomes invisible! One person in our group wears the mantle and attacks all the zombies one by one. Because this person is invisible, the zombies cannot catch them so our classmate is able to kill all the zombies thanks to the Cornish Mantle of Arthur!

King Arthur's biography
Read King Arthur's biography p. 28

Summarize it by completing the Wikipedia exercise on p. 29

Slide 26 - Tekstslide

Example answer

King Arthur was a legendary British leader. He was born in Cornwall during the Dark Ages.
Arthur became king because he managed to pull out the sword from the stone.
Arthur was a real knight because he had a lot of good qualities. He was honest and had a warm personality. He protected the weak and helped out damsels in distress. He was a good fighter and he never gave up.
We don’t know a lot about Arthur’s death. What we do know is that he died in AD 542 according to Geoffrey of Monmouth. He died on the battlefield at Camlann and his body was never found.
Opinions are divided on the question of whether Arthur is a real historical figure because although he is mentioned in Geoffrey of Monmouth's account, there is no actual evidence of his existence.

- he lived there with his wife.
- many important meetings between King Arthur and his knights took place in Camelot.
- Merlin gave Camelot to King Arthur as a wedding present.

2 I think Camelot did not exist because:
- Camelot isn’t mentioned in any of the earliest tales about King Arthur and his knights.
