This is how you make a present continuous:

• am/is/are + verb + ing
  

You use the present continuous:

• When you are doing something right now.   
  
• Things that are happening now. Actively (now, right now, at the moment)
  

Spelling changes

Verbs ending in E

• NO 'E' before -ing --> to have = having / to write = writing

Words with one syllable

• double the final consonant (=medeklinker) --> cut = cutting

Words ending in -IE

• -IE changes into -Y --> lie = lying / tie = tying

• -IC changes into -ICK --> panic = panicking
