Introduction: Speaking about hobbies

Speak in class with your teacher and classmates about your hobbies. 

You have to talk in English!

Exercise 1: Find out the meaning

In this exercise you will see 4 pictures of hobbies, you have to write down the Dutch name of this hobby.

Exercise 2: Roleplay

Form pairs and play out the roleplay that can be seen on the picture. 

1 person plays Jane and the other Leo, you have to talk about the hobby next to your chosen person.

Interview questions

Write down 2 questions you can ask during an interview about someone's hobbies. You will use these questions in the next exercise. 

Exercise 3: Interview

In this exercise, you will interview your partner about their hobby. 

When the first person has asked all 7 questions you will switch roles.

There are 5 pre-written questions you have to ask, but you also have to use the 2 questions you wrote down in the last exercise about hobbies.

The questions

1. What are your hobbies?
2. Which hobby is your favorite?
   
3. Why do you like this hobby?
   
4. How long have you been having this hobby?
   
5. Do you do this alone or with others?
   

Exercise 4: Picture info-gap

You will work in pairs during this activity. Each student looks up a black and white picture or drawing of their own hobby. The objective of this activity is for one person to describe what they see in their picture while the other student tries to draw it with the description they are getting.
