What is an Equation?
An equation uses numbers and symbols to show that two things are equal. The equals sign (=) means 'is the same as'.
Let's Look at Addition!
Addition means putting things together. For example, 2 + 3 = 5.

What is Subtraction?
Subtraction means taking away. For example, 5 - 2 = 3.

Using Symbols
The plus sign (+) is for adding. The minus sign (-) is for subtracting. The equals sign (=) shows the answer.
