What do you already know about plot and tension?

Plot

Plot is what happens in a story and how these things are told. The actions  and  the follow-up of these actions. 

Most stories have the same structure.

Exposition

> the start of the story

> the protagonist is introduced

> the (main/first) setting is described

> something happens

EXPOSITION: the background, setting, characters, setting the scene

Inciting incident

Something happens to begin the action

Rising Action

> events unfold

> things happen

The story builds

Climax

> most exciting

> problems at max

> can't stop reading/ playing/watching

The point of greatest tension, the point of no return

Falling Action

> main problem is solved

> other (minor) problems are resolved

> questions are answered

Events that happen as a result of the climax

Resolution

The character solves the problem or conflict. Events that happen as a result of the climax.
