  • The general rule is that any is used for questions and negatives while some is used for positive.
  • Some may also be used for questions, typically offers and requests, if we think the answer will be positive.
  • Much, Many & A lot of
  • These work in the same way as some and any. Much may only be used with uncountable nouns while many is used with countable.
  • much and many may also be used in questions if the speaker thinks that the answer will be positive.

A.M. : The term we associate with the morning, a.m., is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase Ante Merīdiem meaning “before midday.

P.M. : P.m. is an abbreviation of post merīdiem, meaning  “after midday.”

The abbreviation “e.g.” stands for the Latin phrase exempli gratia, meaning “for example.”

N.B. An abbreviation for the Latin phrase nota bene, meaning “note well.” It is used to emphasize an important point.

PS stands for postscript. It comes from the Latin postscriptum, which literally means “written after.” A postscript is an additional thought added to letters.
