• a list of descriptions of behavioural actions.

What is a protocol?

• A protocol is a table with multiple columns in which you place the behavioral elements of an animal that you observe.

Looking back, we can see what the rat was doing: 
In these two minutes the rat was sleeping, woke up, started walking, then running, then walking again, then drinking, then walking, and the lying down. 

So the rat was sleeping, woke up to get something to drink and then lay back down
