  • You know how Louis XIV ruled France
  • Louis XIV ruled France by eliminating the power of the nobles and forcing religious unity
  • You recognize how this was different from earlier forms of government.
  • The Kings of Spain also tried to centralize and force religious unity, but they failed. In the Dutch Republic, power was shared between different groups/people.
