THE ANSWER IS DRIVING!!!
The 17-24 age bracket make up 7% of all driving licences holders
However, this age bracket make up 24% of all accidents resulting in either death or serious injury
Male drivers account for 5 in 7 of these accidents
Over 1500 young people are killed or injured every year
Drivers are not always the victims
In 2024, only 29% of those killed or seriously injured were the drivers who were driving dangerously.
21% were the passengers in the car
the remaining 50% were "other" casualties, pedestrians, drivers and passengers from other cars etc...

Killed 15 year old Freddie Coleman when he lost control of his speeding car and hit Freddie and his friend as they walked to school.
Knocked Freddie into the path of a van driver who had no time to react.

Makyle Bayley was killed along with 3 friends February 2025
Bayley had been out drinking.
The car was reported to be doing 94mph when it clipped a traffic island, causing the car to plough into a shop.

The Safer Roads Foundation worked with a group of young students in Essex to produce a documentary entitled 'Driving with Grace’, describing the devastating impact resulting from an accident on 6 March 2009, when Eleanor Grace McGrath, aged 14, was killed, Jack Horton, aged 16, sustained brain damage, and several other students suffered serious injuries, due to the actions of a young, thoughtless driver.
