§9.2 Solving equations.

It is  IMPORTANT to LEARN how to 

SOLVE LINEAR EQUATIONS

 IN A GOOD WAY!

That's why we'll PRACTICE it once more, now.

Example 1:       Solve: 

1. take together the like terms (not the case here)

2. remove 10 bags of marbles on both sides.   RESULT:

Solve:  14n + 8 = 10n + 24

• 3.   remove 8 loose marbles on both sides.   RESULT:  

Solve:      14n + 8 = 10n + 24

4. calculate n by dividing by 4 ON BOTH SIDES:

Using 'brackets' is

not really new, of course,

but IT IS, in an equation!

It just asks for one more step:

The new 1st step now becomes:  REMOVE THE BRACKETS.
