What are Imperatives?

Imperatives are sentences used to give commands, instructions, or make requests. They often start with a verb in its base form.

Welke zin is 'imperative'?

1. Look, he is running!
2. How are you?
3. Put your phone away!

Forming Imperatives

To form imperatives, simply use the base form of the verb. For example: 'Open the door.' 'Please sit down.' 'Don't touch that.'

Positive and Negative Imperatives

Positive imperatives give direct commands or instructions, while negative imperatives express prohibition or warnings. E.g., 'Clean your room.' vs 'Don't play with fire.'

Using Imperatives Appropriately

Consider the tone and context when using imperatives. Tone can affect the politeness and effectiveness of the command. E.g., 'Please close the door.' vs 'Close the door!'
