...is the collection of all kinds of characteristics of a group of people: values, norms, customs, traditions and holidays.

A dominant culture
  • When a large group has the same culture, we call this a dominant culture

A dominant culture within a society.

Dutch culture is dominant in the Netherlands. We have common values: freedom, equality, frugality, and therefore consider standards such as freedom of expression, non-discrimination and frugal living important. We have the same habits: the same language, leave home between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five and eat a hot meal around six o'clock in the evening.

In addition to the dominant culture, we also have subcultures in our society.

Woodstock

Woodstock was a music festival that took place in 1969 in Bethel, New York, and it attracted a diverse group of people from different subcultures and social movements of the time.

Anti-war Movement: During the late 1960s, there was a strong anti-war movement in the United States in response to the Vietnam War. Many Woodstock attendees were active participants in this movement and saw the festival as an opportunity to spread their message of peace and resistance.
