Conditionals / if-clauses
  • We use them to talk about the possible result of something 
  • If <event>, <result>:
    (0)If you heat water to 100 degrees, it boils.
    (1) If it rains tomorrow, we will go to the cinema.
    (2) If I had a lot of money, I would travel around the world.

In year two, we focus on the zero, first, and second conditional

(0) If you heat water to 100 degrees, it boils.
      =  100% sure it will happen: facts
      = general situations
(1) If it rains tomorrow, we will go to the cinema.

     = things that might happen in the future 
     = particular situations 
(2) If I had a lot of money, I would travel around the world.
    = things that probably won't happen/impossible in the present 
    = wishes, dreams

General vs particular situation
if you sit in the sun, you get burned = every time a person sits in the sun - the burning happens 


if you sit in the sun, you'll get burned = what will happen today, another day might be different
