What are adverbs?
Verbs = action words (things you do)
Adjectives = describing words

Adverbs = words that describe verbs

Some examples
My friend crashed the car, fortunately, I was OK.
My sister got married today, obviously, she was very happy.
We travelled for 9 hours, but eventually, we got there.

Let's learn some adverbs!
Look at the meaning and the pronunciation of these adverbs.

Unfortunately
Describes an action that was not wanted, unlucky

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Surprisingly
Describes an action that you did not expect

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Gradually
Describes an action that happened bit by bit, over a long time

Immediately
Describes an action that happened very quickly, without pause

(opposite of gradually)

Suddenly
Describes an action that happens without warning, very quickly

Fortunately
Describes an action you are happy happened, or was lucky to happen

(opposite of unfortunately)

Describes an action that is very clear and easy to understand
