Time to review what we know ...

Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Teacher like to be 'practical' ...
We often want 'recipes'
But as any good chef knows, if you don't understand the basic concepts of cooking, no recipe is going to work!

As much as we hate them, we need some theoretical background knowledge.
We all talk about CLT & socioconstructivism ....

But we also need to understand how we got here (e.g. audiolingual, silent period ...)
Turn off your cameras ... review the materials you have (our moodle, your notes, our webpage, chapters read ...)

In 4 minutes, return with a list of language learning theories & key words about them  ...

We all pretty much agree ...
We are in a CLT (or some might say post-CLT) era.
But what does that mean?
First ...  how have these previous language learning theories had an impact or led us to where we are now?

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Choose a theory and explain its impact on LANGUAGE TEACHING. For instance, audiolingual brought in the idea of using language for a purpose (even if it was a bit decontextualized).
