Topic 2.4 Circuits pt 2

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Plan for today:
  • Overview tests & deadlines
  • Recap T2.4 Circuits
  • Work on Kwizl exercise

Slide 3 - Tekstslide

Overview tests & deadlines

Tuesday 16 Januari:                   Skills: series & parallel (prepare labjournal)
Wednessday 17 januari:           PO: circuits (study topic 2.3 & 2.4 + circuit skills)
Tuesday 23 Januari:                   Test Topic 2
Friday 26 Januari:                       Deadline Beanproject (hand in before 23:59)

Slide 4 - Tekstslide

Basic circuit
Copper wire connects the voltage source to the device and back again. When the switch is closed the electricity can flow through the wire and light the bulb.

Slide 5 - Tekstslide

Circuits - Series
  • All components are in the same loop, end to end.
  • There is only one direction in which the current can flow.
  • The same current throughout the entire circuit.
  • The voltage is shared by all components within the circuit.

Slide 6 - Tekstslide

Circuits - Series

Slide 7 - Tekstslide

Every ammeter will show the same value.
The voltage is shared by all components.

Slide 8 - Tekstslide

Circuits - Parallel
  • Multiple loops or paths for the current to flow through.
  • The current is divided over every pathway.
  • The voltage is the same for all components.

Slide 9 - Tekstslide

Circuits - Parallel

Slide 10 - Tekstslide

The voltage is the same for all components,
the current is divided.
The current only divides equally if components are the same.

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

voltage is the same for all components
current is the same throughout circuit
Series
Parallel
Still works if one lamp is broken
If you connect batteries this way, you can add their voltages

Slide 12 - Sleepvraag

Measuring current
Ammeter:  is used to measure the current
The current is measured in amps (A)
The ammeter has to be connected in series with the device.

Slide 13 - Tekstslide

Measuring voltage
Voltmeter: is used to measure the voltage
The voltage is measured in volts (V)
The voltmeter has to be connected in parallel to the device.

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Circuit simulation
Go to Kwizl and complete assignment: Circuits simulation part 2

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

Homework
  • Finish Kwizl assignment: ''Ciruits simulation part 2''
