Who, What, Where, When, Why 

And an 'H'... How?

But first...

WHY?

Why do you want to talk to this person?

Why are you conducting this interview?

Why will this person's interview help to tell the story?

And when you know WHY you're doing the interview, you can decide WHAT you want to ask... 

WHAT do you want to know?

Facts or information to support a story?

To challenge authority? (Investigative)

To add human interest/gain a personal response ?(emotional)

Because they're a celebrity?

...Be POLITE.

...Don't be afraid to be NOSY! Journalism is about CURIOSITY

Who's being interviewed?

Why are they being interviewed?

How long is their contribution?

How does the reporter introduce the clip?

Watch an extended interview and pick out the SOUNDBITE for yourself
