  • Betrayal
  • Loyalty
  • Justice and power

A story can have multiple themes.
Try to figure out which elements feel most important.
Usually it's obvious, sometimes it's more hidden away in the text.

Let's read together
Before we begin: What is the story of red riding hood? 
Who is bad, who is good and who saves who?

  • Interesting old literature facts:
  • Forests are dangerous and often related to magic and crime (People were afraid of the forest and life outside of civilization)
  • Women were often powerless and there to be saved or married.
  • Some older feminist literature exists like "Orlando".
  • Some very powerful women exist even in medieval literature (Morgan Le Fay)

Try to figure out any themes you might recognize.
Remember that themes are usually one or only a few words to describe an idea.
