Simply: a clause with a participle in it. 
Two types of participles you need to know

  1. Present participle        Onvoltooid deelwoord
  2. Past participle               Voltooid deelwoord

How to use participle clauses
  1. Identify main clause and relative clause (conjunctions/voegwooren)
  2. Identify the verb in the relative clause. 
  3. Turn the verb into the appropriate participle.
