Waarden (de kern): De diepste laag; onbewuste opvattingen over wat wenselijk is (goed/slecht, normaal/abnormaal).
Symbolen: (buitenste laag): Meest oppervlakkige kenmerken, zoals jargon, kledingstijl, logo's en huisstijl.
Helden: Personen (levend of dood, echt of fictief) die in de cultuur worden bewonderd en als gedragsmodel dienen.
Rituelen: Collectieve activiteiten die belangrijk zijn voor de sfeer en sociale structuur, zoals vergaderingen, de vrijdagmiddagborrel, koningsdag, Vierdaagse, enz.

Kernpunten van het model:

  • Gelaagdheid: Het model laat zien dat cultuur niet alleen uit zichtbare zaken bestaat, maar vooral uit onzichtbare waarden.

  • Veranderbaarheid: De buitenste lagen (symbolen) zijn relatief makkelijk te veranderen, terwijl de kern (waarden) zeer moeilijk te veranderen is.

  • Toepassing: Het model wordt gebruikt om de organisatiecultuur in kaart te brengen, te veranderen of te analyseren bij internationale samenwerking.

  12. Why do you think foreigners should visit the Netherlands?
