What is a Habitat?
A habitat is the natural home or place where an animal lives.
Land Habitats
Animals that live on land need legs, claws or strong bodies to move around.
Water Habitats
Animals that live in water often have fins, flippers, or gills for swimming and breathing.
Air Habitats
Animals that live in the air have wings or lightweight bodies to help them fly.
Why Do Features Matter?
An animal’s features help it survive in its habitat, like flippers for swimming or wings for flying.
Example: Duck in Water
A duck has webbed feet and a waterproof body to live happily by the pond.
Example: Eagle in the Air
An eagle’s wings and sharp eyes help it hunt and soar high in the sky.
Example: Lion on Land
A lion uses its strong legs and sharp claws to hunt and run on land.
