You can describe how life in a megacity differs from that in a metropolis.

What makes a city a city? (and different from villages)

What is a city? 

A city has 4 characteristics

• a number of people. How many the mimumum is differs per country
• densely built in comparison with the surrounding area;
• a working population that works almost exclusively in the secondary and tertiary sector;
• a large number of facilities (shops, work, education, administration) for the area around the city.

3 kinds of cities:

1. A megacity;
2. A worldcity;
3. A capital.

<b>Secundaire sector</b> = werken in fabrieken.<div><b>Tertiaire sector</b> = werken bij bedrijven die uit zijn op winst, bijv. een kapper, winkel.</div>

Cities 

• Capital: political core of the globale
• Megacity:: 10 mln inhabitants, no big role on global scale
• Worldcity: massive, important on economical or political or cultural level

Living in a mega city

Advantage

- Er is hier werk;<div>- Grotere kans op goed onderwijs;</div><div>- Kans op een beter leven in de stad groter dan op het platteland.</div><div><div><br></div></div>

Disadvantage

- Als je arm bent woon je in krottenwijken;<div>- Veel afval en ziektes.</div>
