Slide 1 - Tekstslide

Blood circulation

Slide 2 - Tekstslide

Function of white blood cells
A
blood clotting
B
fight pathogen

Slide 3 - Quizvraag

What is the main function of the red bloodcells?
A
to transpose oxygen
B
to transport oxygen
C
to transform oxygen

Slide 4 - Quizvraag

Name 2 parts of the circulatory system.

Slide 5 - Open vraag

What blood cells are there?

Slide 6 - Open vraag

What does the red colour mean? And the blue colour?

Slide 7 - Open vraag

91% water
7% blood proteins
2% dissolved substances
A
Blood plasma
B
Bloodcells

Slide 8 - Quizvraag

3.1 Blood
Blood transports everything your body need
              (heat, nutrients, oxygen, waste products)
Blood contains:
- blood plasma (Proteins- fibrinogen for clotting blood,
         water,                    carbon dioxide
         oxygen                  waste products
         nutrients

The heart

Slide 11 - Tekstslide

the heart is part of the systemic circulation.
It needs O2 (respiration) the coronary arteries provide O2 to the heart.
The coronary veins brings CO2 back to the heart

Slide 12 - Tekstslide

What is the circulatory system?
  1. Made up of the heart and blood vessels.
  2. Blood vessel: tube through which blood travels
  3. Blood stays in these blood vessels most of the time
  4. Blood vessels are large and small.

Slide 14 - Tekstslide

Learning objectives
  • You can name three types of blood vessels with their features and functions.
  • You can name arteries and veins in the human circulatory system.
  • You can distinguish between the pulmonary and systemic circulation with their functions.

Slide 15 - Tekstslide

What is circulation?

Slide 16 - Open vraag

Two kinds of circulation systems
1. Pulmonary circulation
2. Systemic circulation

Slide 17 - Tekstslide

Pulmonary circulation
  1. heart - lungs - heart
  2. Right side of the heart sends oxygen poor blood to lungs
  3. Oxygen rich blood flows back to heart.

Slide 18 - Tekstslide

Systemic circulation
  1. heart - body - heart
  2. Left side of the heart sends oxygen rich and glucose rich blood to body
  3. CO2 and waste products get picked up and blood brings back to heart

Slide 19 - Tekstslide

3.4 Blood vessels (later 3.3)
3 types of blood vessels
arterie, capillarie, vein

Slide 20 - Tekstslide

Artery
From heart to organs
(red) transport O2
walls are:
    - thick, firm, elastic
High blood pressure

Slide 21 - Tekstslide

Capillaries
Release O2 into organs
Absorb Co2 into bloodstream

- one cell layer tick walls
- white bloodcells can go between the cells into the tissue

Slide 22 - Tekstslide

Veins
Transport CO2 from organs to the heart
- low bloodpressure
       thinner, less elastic
Includes valves
- The blood can flow in 1 direction
