The classical era or classic antiquity was a time period (800 BC - 500 AD) of the Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman civilizations. 

These civilizations were located around the Medditerranean Sea

Two major contributions of the Ancient Greeks are democracy and philosophy

  1. Acient Greece consisted of city states, for example Athens. 
  2. Leaders were selected from eligible citizens: at least 30 years old and soldiers
  3. Voting system in favour or against laws

Spartans were known for their powerful militairy. Warriors famously fought the Persian Empire.

Later, Spartans would battle agains Athens in the Peleponnesian War.
